About Me

CuraƧao
It is the year 2007 and Charles McDonald has decided to take a Gap year. I am sailing from Cape Town to St. Helena, then to Ascension, then Fernando, then Fortaleza and ending up in Trinindad in the Caribbean. I will then go to the North section of the Caribbean and try and find work for about 6 months. And then to England in September.

Day 7 3rd January 2007 Wednesday

We got it in!!!!!!!! The pin that holds the rudder to the boat, an 8mm pin that had had us hove to for two days was finally in. The relief shared between Tony and I, who had been hanging over the back fixing the rudder, was absolute! We were screeching with delight. Better than orgasm, or more fittingly the best penetration ever experienced was Tony's comment. Anyway we then sat as a crew for about an hour and a half and decided whether or not we would carry on to the island. African coast was 200 miles away whilst St. Helena was 1400 miles away. The deciding factor was the weather. As far as we could make out, with conversations to SA Weather there would be no heavy weather from where we were to St Helena and it would be downwind which would be easier than beating back to Africa to a port we didn’t know anything about.
