About Me

Curaçao
It is the year 2007 and Charles McDonald has decided to take a Gap year. I am sailing from Cape Town to St. Helena, then to Ascension, then Fernando, then Fortaleza and ending up in Trinindad in the Caribbean. I will then go to the North section of the Caribbean and try and find work for about 6 months. And then to England in September.

Day 28 24th January 2007 Wednesday Position @ 0700 S10°41.7 W009°16.9

I felt like I was at home tonight, I had a cup of tea in my right hand and a bar of Lindt on the seat next to me.

The wind direction is better now and we are no longer goose winging, goose winging is very uncomfortable as the wind is right behind you and the sails tend to flap a lot. Added to this we are in a big sea which throws us around a lot so the sails bang all the time. We have 15 - 20 knots of wind and we are going along at 8 knots. Unfortunately the bottom of our main has torn a bit so we are sailing with one reef which is not ideal.
