2200 GMT: Nothing really to report or write. Life continues on board. Been a bit frustrating over the last few days because the wind is constantly behind us and it is ranging from 5 to 15 knots which means we are changing the sail configuration quite often for a cruiser. Also with the light conditions and 2m swells the boat rocks around a lot and the sails flap continuously. Better than being solo in a storm though, I guess. We’re about 60 miles from Ascension now so we will arrive tomorrow morning. Can’t decide whether I should buy cigarettes or not. Stuart is a nice guy and we’ve had a few interesting conversations over the last week. A bit strange, not being used to the way he sails and all. Missing all of you who’ll be reading this when I send it through. At sea you get a lot of time to think, especially when there are only two of you on board. So I have been thinking, just thought I’d let you all know that I’ve been thinking.
Have started reading Ellen MacArthur’s book about her Vendee Globe experience and it really is a wonderful read. Quite an emotional read in that she went through some tough times and so one feels for her as one reads about her experience.
Start reading at the bottom and work your way up!
About Me
- Charles McDonald
- Curaçao
- It is the year 2007 and Charles McDonald has decided to take a Gap year. I am sailing from Cape Town to St. Helena, then to Ascension, then Fernando, then Fortaleza and ending up in Trinindad in the Caribbean. I will then go to the North section of the Caribbean and try and find work for about 6 months. And then to England in September.
